GUIDE

Using Dogmode

In Dogmode, a virtual Border Collie follows your course path at full scale. Watch the run from the side or switch to the dog camera.

  1. Load a course with a path

The dog follows the path of the loaded course. The course needs an obstacle sequence for that. Without one, the headset shows “No dog path” and the dog does not start.

While Adapt is active, the Dog button is grey. Finish Adapt first.

  2. Start the dog

Open the hand menu, tap Tools at the bottom, then Dog. The dog appears sitting at the start, barks once, stands up and runs.

  3. Control the dog

While the dog is running, the hand menu shows the Dogmode controls. Turn your hand away and the dog keeps running. Touch and hold a button to use it. A ring fills around the button as you hold it.

    • Pause stops the dog, Play lets it run on.
    • Restart sends the dog back to the start, or to the start of the section if one is set.
    • Loop lets the dog run the course or the section again and again.
    • Shuttle: drag the slider right to fast-forward or left to rewind, at up to four times normal speed. In the centre, the dog stops. When you let go, the dog runs on or stays paused, as it did before.
    • Timeline: every tick is an obstacle. Hold the timeline and drag to pick an obstacle. The big number next to it shows the selected obstacle.
    • Section: select an obstacle on the timeline. Use A to set the start of the section there and B to set the end. The dog then runs only that part, for example obstacles 7 to 13. Whole course clears the section again.
    • Dog cam: the small monitor on the left shows the course from above, with the dog as a dot. Turn on Dog cam to switch the monitor to the camera view. Eye shows the course from the dog’s eye level, Shoulder from slightly behind and above the dog. Eye and Shoulder appear once the dog cam is on.
    • Stop closes Dogmode. The hand menu then shows the course list and buttons again.
  4. After the run

Without Loop, the dog celebrates at the finish, then runs around the obstacles to you and sits down in front of you. When you walk off, it walks with you and sits again when you stop. Play starts the run again.

  5. Set the dog profile

Set the dog’s speed and handling in your account settings: speed on straight sections, acceleration, turning and obstacle speed. Changes apply when you start the next run.

Watch your surroundings. The virtual dog cannot see the ground, obstacles or people around you. Take care when you follow it or it follows you.
